“Megaincendio” is a visual investigation into the wildfire catastrophe of 2024 that occurred in Viña del Mar, Chile.

Almost two years after the fire, the project documents the neighbourhoods that were affected and, through five different layers, reflects on trauma and resilience in a region which is constantly under threat of another outburst. Today, as wildfires are once again burning in the south of Chile, the project aims to offer a deeper and more complex insight into the structural problems, consequences, and risks.

It shows a state in between, after and before the fire. Through interviews, paintings, my own photographs, handwritten notes from a group therapy session, and archival images from the local newspaper El Mercurio, the project portrays the complexity of a wildfire catastrophe.
