Stefan Nieland (*1999) is a documentary photographer currently based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Before working as a photographer he completed an apprenticeship as a foreign language correspondent for Spanish and English in Würzburg. Since 2021 he studies Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography in Hanover. In his work he focuses on stories that open up dialogues between the past and the present.

When starting his studies in 2021 he became a member of the fotobus society. In 2024 his work “Kein Held” was exhibited at Rotterdam Photo, shortlisted for Athens Photo Festival and with the work he was selected as one of 25 finalist students of the Canon Student Development Program. His pictures have been published by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, stern, stern crime, AW Magazin, Børsen and The Guardian.
